The world’s largest single-site heterojunction (HJT) solar project—the 4 GW Ruoqiang Photovoltaic (PV) Project in Xinjiang, China—has successfully connected to the grid. As a key supplier, Huasun Energy delivered 1.8 GW of high-efficiency HJT solar modules to the project developer, China Green Development Investment Group (CGDG), within an impressive three-month timeframe, ensuring the project’s on-schedule completion by the end of 2024. This milestone highlights Huasun’s manufacturing expertise and swift delivery capabilities.

Spanning approximately 1,879 acres with an investment of RMB ¥11 billion, the Ruoqiang project sits on the southeastern edge of the Taklamakan Desert. This ambitious initiative includes 1,280 solar power generation arrays and four 220kV substations—the largest of their kind in China. This project is designed to deliver robust renewable energy to combat desertification and promote ecological restoration in the region.

Covering approximately 9,688 acres, the heterojunction solar panels help reduce ground temperatures and regulate the thermal balance of the desert. Modules are installed at a height of 3 meters, and they will substantially increase the humidity retention of the soil, by 30-60%, highlighting the synergy of renewable energy generation, sustainable development and ecological recovery of land.

Huasun Himalaya G12-132 HJT modules bring advanced features to the project, including non-destructive cutting, and light conversion film encapsulation. These innovations boost power generation efficiency while enhancing resistance to wind and corrosion. The modules’ high bifaciality and superior temperature coefficient ensure efficient and reliable performance in extreme desert environments, delivering exceptional economic value and long-term durability.
The successful grid connection of the Ruoqiang 4 GW project underscores Huasun’s commitment to renewable energy innovation and sustainable development. This achievement not only strengthens Huasun’s leadership in the global solar industry but also provides a replicable model for large-scale desert solar projects, advancing efforts toward global carbon neutrality.
