Heterojunction expected to flourish for photovoltaic industry in 2024

The 2023 China Photovoltaic Industry Annual Conference- Photovoltaic Supply Chain Development Forum was successfully held on December 14 in Suqian, Jiangsu Province. Jimmy Xu, Chairman of Anhui Huasun Energy Co., Ltd. (Huasun) was among the leading entrepreneurs invited to attend the dialogue session and shared his views on the new direction of solar industrial chain cost reduction and efficiency enhancement.

During the session, Jimmy emphasized that the "five new" aspects of new technology, new materials, new equipment, new products, and new applications are critical for promoting the overall cost reduction and efficiency increase of the industrial chain. He discussed Huasun's efforts in completing the integrated layout of heterojunction (HJT) wafer-cell-module products and reducing costs and increasing efficiency through continuous technological innovation and large-scale mass production of HJT.

To further accelerate the cost reduction and efficiency increase of the industrial chain and promote the integrated development of HJT, Huasun initiated the first collaborative innovation platform for industrialization of heterojunction technology in China. This platform will encourage collaboration and innovation among upstream, midstream, and downstream enterprises and help realize the high-quality development of the HJT industry.

Jimmy also discussed the future development trend where he stated that the technology of HJT for mass production is now mature, and equipment and raw materials have been localized. As a result, 2024 is expected to usher in the blossoming of HJT with many leading enterprises entering the game and driving further optimization of manufacturing costs. In the long run, HJT perovskite tandem solar cell technology would be the best choice in the zero-carbon era, expected to realize 30% conversion efficiency in mass production. This will promote photovoltaics to become the cheapest energy for power ever.

As the world's largest provider of vertically integrated HJT products, Huasun has already focused on the layout of cutting-edge tandem cell technology, with the 100MW+ level pilot line planned to be put into operation in 2025.
