On March 6, the 10th Roundtable of China’s High-Efficiency 760W+ HJT Club and the launch of the "HJT Leadership Initiative" successfully took place in Xuancheng, Anhui, the “Capital of Heterojunction (HJT)”. As the first closed-door meeting of 2025, the event was chaired by Huasun Energy, the world’s largest HJT innovator and manufacturer. Industry leaders, including Guangdong Mingyang PV, Guangdong Quanwei Technology (QW Solar), SPIC New Energy, Grand Sunergy, Golden Solar, Jiangsu Soltrend, Leascend PV, Shanghai Electric Hency Solar Technology, Tongwei, CNBM Jetion Solar, Zhejiang Winhitech, and Zhuhai SoleFiori Technology (listed in alphabetical order by Chinese name), gathered to discuss key topics such as technological breakthroughs, market synergy, and policy opportunities.
During the event, the "740W+ Club" was officially upgraded to the "760W+ Club," setting a new benchmark for HJT module commercialization, with power outputs expected to reach 760 W and beyond. This milestone marks a significant development of heterojunction technology.
The Technology Ark: Patented Solar Innovation for Energy Security
At the opening of the meeting, Huasun Energy’s Chairman and CEO, Jimmy Xu, emphasized in his speech, "National authorities are strongly driving the energy transition, and in the future, energy competition among countries will largely revolve around advanced PV technology. While HJT technology is technologically superior, its market penetration lags behind. However, domestic and international policy incentives and overseas project opportunities are creating a critical window for us."
He further stressed, "As a strategic pillar of new quality productive forces, HJT technology not only enables China’s PV industry to leapfrog global competitors but also, due to its patent-safe nature, serves as a crucial solution to breaking international technological barriers and ensuring energy security. Amidst a global patent dispute in the PV sector, HJT technology provides China with a 100% independent and controllable technological pathway, safeguarding against patent risks—this is our ‘Technology Ark’ for national energy security."
Thomas Liu, Executive Secretary-General of 760W+ Club and Founder of SOLARZOOM, provided a comprehensive review of the club’s progress since its founding in 2024: "Over the past year, the club has made significant strides in technology promotion and market expansion. China state-owned enterprises have issued collective procurement bids totaling approximately 15 GW for HJT modules, demonstrating mainstream market recognition of HJT technology. "
Xin Wang, Chairman of Leascend, stated, "HJT technology has transitioned from the exploratory phase of 1 GW to a near-commercialized scale of 15 GW annual shipments—this is a testament to the industry’s unwavering commitment to technological advancement."
The Leadership Initiative: Unlocking 760W+ Through End-to-End Process Innovation
During the meeting, Huasun Energy, as the rotating chair, unveiled the "760W+ Mass Production Implementation Strategy and Technology Roadmap," outlining a three-phase approach to advancing HJT technology:
Phase 1:Process Optimization as a Foundation - Advancing from 730 W to 740 W by Mid 2025
The standard bifacial microcrystalline HJT process has achieved 730 W output at 23.5% efficiency for 210mm products in mass production. By optimizing CVD processes, upgrading gettering, and enhancing module’s materials and processes, the output is expected to increase to 740 W by June 2025, with module efficiency reaching 23.8%.
Phase 2: Innovative Combinations to Drive Advancement – Achieving 780 W by Early 2026
By introducing high-mobility target materials, photon firing technology, metal pattern and paste optimization, and incorporating secondary light conversion film, output will reach 750 W by the end of 2025, with efficiency surpassing 24%.
To achieve 24.5%+ of module efficiency that is targeted by back contact (BC) technology while maintaining HJT's high bifaciality, a new quasi-rear polishing process significantly improves rear-side light reflection and absorption, reducing bifaciality losses to less than 1%. These innovations will elevate output to 765 W and efficiency to 24.6%, with minimal hardware upgrade costs, making it feasible for all club members’ champion production lines. In addition, module technology will integrate multi-slicing and negative-spacing with full-screen design, adding 15 W of power while maintaining module dimensions at 1303*2384mm. The upgrade cost for each GW-scale production line will remain under CNY 20 million. By early 2026, champion production lines will produce HJT modules with 780 W output, 25% efficiency, and bifaciality exceeding 85%.
Phase 3: Pushing the Limits Towards 800 W by End of 2026
The roadmap also proposes seedless copper electroplating for single- or bifacial metallization as the next breakthrough. Initial research suggests that this process improves front-side efficiency and reduces contact resistance, offering a 0.5% efficiency increase. Coupled with an innovative ribbon design that reduces light reflection, module output could rise by over 20 W, achieving 800 W with 25.75% efficiency—the highest power and efficiency ever achieved in standard crystalline silicon modules, while maintaining bifaciality above 85%. This will mark the "ultimate process" for crystalline silicon modules before the launch of HJT-perovskite tandem products.
"This is not just a simple power race, but a redefinition of China’s PV capabilities in extreme manufacturing," emphasized Jimmy Xu. "Every watt of increased power comes from the relentless exploration and continuous breakthroughs of our HJT partners. This represents a firm belief and persistent commitment to producing HJT products with the highest conversion efficiency and overall power generation capabilities, using the simplest processes, the fewest materials, and the lowest energy consumption."
The club members unanimously recognized the newly released technology roadmap, agreeing that it not only anchors the industry's technological evolution around the triad of "process-material-equipment," but also establishes a value assessment system centered on the "levelized cost of electricity (LCOE)" over the full lifecycle.
Terence Xing, Vice President of Huasun Energy, shared insights on global market positioning: "Huasun has launched over 20 pilot projects for vertical installations in China, with high irradiance regions in the Middle East and Southeast Asia emerging as main battlefields overseas. The measured energy gain of HJT modules in the Mohe project (North China) reached 8.77%. These tangible on-site results are crucial for market expansion." In contrast, purely pursuing front-side efficiency at the cost of overall power generation capacity can no longer meet the stringent LCOE requirements of the clean power market. Regarding the chaotic industry price competition, Xing called for: "Malicious competition only depletes the industry's future; technological premium and reasonable pricing are the sustainable paths."
From 740W+ to 760W+, this is not only a numerical leap but also a microcosm of the Chinese PV industry's transformation from "scale leadership" to "value leadership." It represents the confidence and determination of club members to use HJT technology to drive new productive forces in the PV industry, adhering to the principle of manufacturing PV products with the highest conversion efficiency and best overall power generation capacity using the simplest processes and lowest costs.
With the official release of the "HJT Leadership Initiative," the meeting sent a clear message: HJT technology, with its powerful core of "high efficiency, low carbon, and scenarization," patent-free independence, and lifecycle performance advantages, is building a moat for national energy security.
Just as TOPCon rewrote the PERC era with cost-effectiveness, and HJT is unlocking global markets with superior power generation capacity and patent safety, China's PV industry has proven: Only technologies that withstand practical verification can truly drive industry transformation. The mission of the 760W+ HJT Club is to use the power of ecological collaboration, making every watt of electricity a testament to the energy revolution.
This is the first one.
