Huasun’s HJT Vertical Modules Offer New Approach to Boost Solar Power Plant Profitability

2025/05/29

On May 27, Huasun Energy participated in the online conference "The Future of Utility-Scale Solar Power Plants" hosted by TaiyangNews. During the event, Christian Comes, Director of Business Development Europe, presented the keynote "New PV Plant Designs for Future-Proof Income: Vertical PV with HJT." He introduced Huasun's innovative solution combining heterojunction (HJT) technology with vertical module installation, addressing challenges like low electricity prices during peak hours and income volatility.

As solar penetration rises worldwide, traditional PV systems increasingly suffer from midday price troughs—and sometimes even negative pricing—caused by concentrated peak power generation. Huasun’s unique integration of high-efficiency HJT technology with vertical installation offers a sustainable solution, providing investors with long-term revenue stability.

Huasun’s Kunlun Series HJT solar panels, specially designed for vertical photovoltaics, are  engineered to maximize the capture of low-angle sunlight during morning and evening hours, significantly boosting off-peak energy generation. Compared to traditional tilted systems, HJT vertical power plants deliver lower Balance of System (BOS) costs, substantially higher annual revenues, and improved environmental adaptability through frameless or ultra-thin frame designs. Featuring an almost 100% bifaciality  and superior land-use efficiency, the solution ensures stable year-round power generation while maximizing lifetime returns.

As the world’s first company to achieve full industrial chain integration for HJT technology—from ingot and wafer production to cell and module assembly—Huasun leverages the inherent advantages of HJT cells, including high power output, excellent low-light performance, and favorable temperature coefficients. This ensures outstanding module performance under low-irradiance and high-temperature conditions. Huasun’s Kunlun Series modules, ranging from 500W to 720W, demonstrate remarkable versatility across applications, from utility-scale solar plants to PV+ power systems and building-integrated solutions such as perimeter fences and facades.

In European agrivoltaic projects, vertical designs allow for dual land use, supporting both agricultural cultivation and peak-shifted solar power generation. When paired with energy storage, these systems can actively engage in electricity spot markets. “Technology selection must align with market dynamics,” stated Comes. “Vertical PV provides mature markets with advanced strategies to optimize revenue and could be the key to lowering the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).”

Amid intensifying competition within the solar industry, Huasun is setting new standards through technological integration and comprehensive industry capabilities. "Future power plants must balance technology, cost, and market dynamics—and Huasun is leading the way," Comes concluded. As the global photovoltaic sector accelerates its transformation, Huasun’s Kunlun vertical installation solutions are poised to become the new benchmark for innovation, driving solar power plants into an unprecedented era of profitability.
